A GROUP of passionate table tennis players has recently received new nets courtesy of Cardinia Shire Council.
Mayor Letitia Wilmot and councillor Tania Baxter joined the group for their gathering on Monday 11 May, witnessing firsthand the benefits of the recently installed nets.
The group is run out of the Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Centre and meets several times a week to play together.
Centre co-ordinator Lynda Smith said: “This group of enthusiastic table tennis players have enjoyed socialising together for several years now.
“As well as making new friends in their community and brushing up on their skills, participants have used the opportunity to continue being active, which gives many health benefits.”
She said that the group had consistently enjoyed the support of local Ranges Ward councillors Brett Owen, Tania Baxter and Mayor Letitia Wilmot.
“With their assistance new tables were purchased several years ago.
“Now that the group has thoroughly worn out the nets used all this time, the councillors recently and generously funded new nets.”
The group meet on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons and new members are always welcome.
