AFTER two auditions and two interviews, year 10 student at St Francis Xavier College in Beaconsfield Aria Taylor has scored a live audition on Channel 7’s new series of the X-Factor.
Aria starting singing lessons at the age of six and will now step in front of the four X-Factor judges and live audience at Hisense Arena on Sunday 14 June.
“To say I’m scared is not even close to it,” she said.
With adoring fans all over the world Aria has a strong online following on Facebook and YouTube.
“I started the Facebook page in 2013 and I’ve got 9626 followers,” she said.
A singer songwriter, Aria plays guitar and keyboard and writes lyrics with the help of her mentor Mel Jade and even sits down with her dad, Paul, and rhymes a few lines.
“I just let the words flow onto paper and make sure they rhyme,” she said.
Having written two songs with her mentor Aria said she has released five songs with video clips and absolutely loves what she does.
“I started singing ever since I could talk and it has always been a dream of mine,” she said.
An experienced stage performer Aria has been in musicals, short films and advertisements but said she is very nervous about the live audition.
“I’m hoping I don’t pee my pants,” she said.
Aria discussed song choices with producers of the show on Monday 1 June and started practising for the audition that night.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever get the chance to perform in front on an arena full of people and that’s a huge experience in itself,” she said.
Aria will perform in front of Danni Minogue, Guy Sebastian, Chris Isaac and James Blunt at 16 years of age and said she will chase her dreams no matter what.
“I feel like if it’s your dream then chase it, there are so many people that have a dream and just sit there and do nothing and wait for it to come to them – but it’s not going to happen unless you put in all the work.”
Aria does singing and music lessons three nights a week and acting lessons on the weekend.
“I feel like if you put in the work things are going to come to you no matter what, even if you’re unlucky and luck is something not everyone gets, so hard working people a lot of the time do because they put in the effort,” she said.
