Reports of a handgun in a car has led to the arrest of two people.
They are currently being questioned in Pakenham Police Station.
Police said a truck driver reported spotting the passenger of a white Holden Commodore holding a handgun as the vehicle travelled along the Monash Freeway at 11am.
However officers said they did not find a firearm when they stopped the car on McGregor Road about 20 metres south of the Pakenham Bypass.
The pair are now being questioned over drugs and handling stolen property which police said they found in their car.
