PAKENHAM police arrested four people on charges of drug trafficking within the period of an hour.
The arrests occurred in two separate incidents last week, both involving two males and occurring outside dining venues.
Police said that about 2am on Wednesday 12 August, two men in a car outside the Pakenham Hotel were caught and charged with possession and trafficking of methamphetamine.
A 19-year-old Berwick man was released on bail and will appear in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 7 September, and a 20-year-old Officer man was remanded to appear on 8 September.
At 2.40am, another two men were caught in a car parked outside the Pakenham Inn (Cardinia Hotel) on Princes Highway. Police said the two were in possession of a substantial quantity of methamphetamines and illegal liquid drugs.
A 26-year-old Rowville man and a 32-year-old Lysterfield man were charged with drug trafficking. Both were remanded and appeared at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court later that day.
Police do not believe the incidents are linked.
Pakenham Senior Sergeant Nathan Prowd said drug offences are taken very seriously.
“There are obviously significant quantities of illegal drugs out there which is concerning to us,” he said.
“Drugs can have a devastating impact on lives. I would encourage anyone with any suspicions to report them to Crime Stoppers immediately.”
