Healthy take on grants

GRANTS of up to $5000 will be available to Cardinia Shire community groups to assist in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Council’s Community Well-being and Support Grants Program was developed after the government cut funding to the Healthy Together Victoria, and will be open to applications from community groups and organisations within Cardinia.
Mayor Leticia Wilmot said the funding was a win for the wider community.
“The health and well-being of our community is a high priority for council, and we know that our residents face a number of health concerns,” she said.
“This new grants program will allow us to support a range of community-based groups, projects and programs that contribute to the health and well-being of people who work, live and play in Cardinia Shire.”
A council press release states that grants will be awarded in three categories:
* Seeding Grants of up to $5000, to support the establishment of new groups or initiatives (i.e. programs or projects) that seek to improve community health and well-being
* Volunteering Grants of up to $3000 to assist with the recruitment and development of volunteers
* Small Change Grants of up to $2000 to assist with ad hoc requests for support from established community-based groups and community service organisations.
Applications for the grants will open on Tuesday 1 September and close on Wednesday 30 September.
