Slick, shallow and soulless

Hitman: Agent 47
Starring: Rupert Friend, Zachary Quinto
BACKROOM boffins in Hollywood have poured years of effort into creating a film with absolutely no engagement whatsoever with its viewers.
’Hitman: Agent 47’ is that film.
You couldn’t even call it a video game – because video games are engaging.
The risible plot covers Agent 47 – a perfect genetically engineered killing machine – and his efforts to protect the daughter of the man who invented him.
Smells like Terminator? Well, yes, but that great film should not be mentioned in the same sentence as this dross.
Who’s good? Who’s bad? Who cares?
Twists and turns? Not so much. Just empty running and gunning – and not very good running and gunning, at that.
How Rupert Friend – quite good in Homeland – got roped in to play this emotionless cyborg is beyond me. Beats a dole cheque, maybe – just.
Before his death, Paul Walker was allegedly slated for the role. I have no words.
Almost anything you could do, rather than watching this film, would make a greater contribution to humanity. Avoid at all costs.
