BOYS love their toys and the same can be said of some men who grow up with the same passion for building in their later years.
Whether it’s a passion for building toys and furniture or a passion to build friendships with others, men are offered the perfect outlet for their passions at Men’s Shed groups across the state.
Federal Flinders MP Greg Hunt recently announced a new round of funding opened to groups as part of the National Shed Development Program.
Shedders are asked to submit an application for grants for up to $8000, as part of the recent round of funding.
“These organisations play an important role in our community, keeping men active and providing an outlet where they can use their skills while socialising with other like-minded individuals,” Mr Hunt said.
Men’s Sheds are an outlet designed to reduce social isolation and mental health problems, particularly for older men and men living in rural and remote areas.
The groups also play an important role in the community by enabling men to keep active while contributing to their local area.
The federal funding will enable Men’s Sheds to maintain their shed, buy new tools and equipment and engage in training or start new projects. Applications close on September 18. To submit an application, visit www.mensshed.org
