PUNTERS and fashionistas alike were treated with brilliant spring sunshine at the new Pakenham Racecourse for Empire Guineas Day on Saturday.
Pakenham Racing Club CEO Michael Hodge said the club was “delighted” to have received an increased 10 race program for Guineas Day.
“The magnificent weather added to the experience of those enjoying our corporate and guest packages from which we received some fantastic feedback,” he said.
“Guineas Day was a great way to kick off the Spring Racing Carnival for the Pakenham Racing Club with the promise of even more excitement and great racing to unfold at the track later in spring.”
On Thursday 15 October the Tynong facility will host a nine-race program featuring more than $350,000 in prize money which was transferred from Moe in the wake of last-minute track renovations.
Mr Hodge is thrilled with the boost to the local racing calendar.
“The transfer of the meeting from Moe Racing Club is a great addition to our feature race days during spring and it also is a huge vote of confidence by the industry in this new racecourse.”
