Fine time to cool down

CARDINIA shire’s four seasonal outdoor pools are set to open in the coming weeks but will operate under temperature requirements and for limited hours.
Opening times and conditions were reviewed over the winter to ensure facilities are available for use at peak times and on sufficiently hot days.
Pakenham, Garfield and Emerald Park Lake Wading Pool will open only when the day’s forecast is 26 degrees or higher.
The Kooweerup outdoor pool will adhere to a similar policy and will open when the minimum temperature is 22 degrees.
On school days, the Emerald Park Lake Wading Pool will open from noon and Garfield, Pakenham and Kooweerup pool from 3pm.
Cardinia YMCA Seasonal Aquatics Facilities Manager Ian Jenkins said the opening hours would benefit local families.
“The pools will be open to the public in November this year and, providing the temperature is suitable, we will open at Garfield, Pakenham and Kooweerup at 3pm on school days so students and their families can take advantage of the facilities at the warmest part of the day and evening,” he said.
The facilities will be fully staffed during opening hours and each pool will host a number of events and activities throughout the summer.

Opening dates for the 2015/16 summer season area are:

  • Kooweerup, Saturday 7 November to Sunday 27 March 2016.
  • Pakenham and Garfield, Saturday 14 November to Sunday 20 March 2016.
  • Emerald Lake Park, Friday 27 November to Monday 14 March 2016.
