INVITED guests joined staff and students at Lakeside College this week for the opening of a new multipurpose building.
The $633,000 project was funded through the Capital Grants Programme and comprised four general learning areas, a staff room, store room and gallery space; a new modular building which features a food technology area and an extension to an existing building that has student amenities and a disability access toilet.
Federal Member for McMillan Russell Broadbent attended the opening on behalf of Minister for Education and Training Simon Birmingham.
He said the new facilities would be invaluable for the entire community.
“I am very pleased to visit Lakeside College and see firsthand the new facilities that students and the whole community will no doubt benefit from using,” he said.
“These new learning spaces take into account the latest in education research and will see students learn more effectively.”
The opening was also attended by members of Lutheran Education Vic, NSW, Tas (LEVNT), representatives from Luther College and the Lakeside College Council, members of the Parents and Friends Association, the Lakeside Community Development Forum president and a representative of Brand Architects.
