Two teens face 33 charges

TWO teens who allegedly initiated a massive police hunt through Kooweerup last week have fronted court on more than 30 charges between them, including evading police and multiple thefts.
The duo appeared before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Friday 30 November in relation to a serious road crash and theft which later sparked an extensive police road and air search.
Police alleged one of the teens was erratically driving a silver commodore with false plates in the Kooweerup area before 6pm on Saturday 14 November.
Police failed to locate the car, but however said it was spotted two hours later on the Princes Freeway with an allegedly stolen trailer attached.
It is believed the driver struck a barrier along the freeway, causing the trailer to get detached from the car.
The police air wing and several road units were called in to hunt down the alleged offenders.
The extensive search centred in the Kooweerup area, following sightings of the car in Denhams Road.
The offenders are believed to have dumped the car and fled the scene by foot, with police locating the abandoned Commodore at a vacant block on John Street, Kooweerup.
Facing 23 charges including reckless conduct, evading police and a number of thefts, one teen is being held in remand until 14 December.
The other pleaded guilty to 10 charges including reckless conduct and a series of theft.
Pakenham police Senior Sergeant Graeme Stanley said the majority of charges related to crimes taking place before the Kooweerup incident involving multiple car stealing offences.
His case was adjourned for sentencing.
