BERWICK boy turned successful interstate AFL player Matt Buntine is melting hearts across the nation, dubbed Cleo Bachelor of the Year 2015.
The former Beaconhills College, Pakenham student and current Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Giants player took out the title despite fierce competition by dozens of equally sizzling bachelors including model Timothy Downsborough and socialite Christian Wilkins.
But Matt’s more than just a pretty face, great man bun and cheese-grater abs.
The 22-year-old is studying to be a maths teacher and runs a successful food blog – @whereyoudrathereat on Instagram.
The title came as a surprise to the crowned good-looker who jokingly told Cleo: “my friends always call me a prawn, cos that’s the reality. Not a good head but a delicious body”.
But it seems Australia disagrees.
And so does his family.
Matt’s father Lewis Buntine said his son failed to break the news to his family who later found out on TV.
“We were sitting there watching The Project. We found out and then burst out laughing,” his dad said.
He said his son’s best qualities were his sense of mateship and genuineness.
“Even as a son, he’s a mate,” the father said.
However, the country’s “most eligible dude” is not so eligible anymore.
Matt has been snapped up by a lucky Upper Beaconsfield lass, according to his dad who said he was very proud of his son’s achievements.
Matt graduated from the Pakenham campus in 2011 and has played for GWS since 2012.
