STRATEGIES to help improve youth self-esteem and the impacts of diet and exercise on health will be discussed at a major mental health forum in Berwick next year.
The forum comes off the back of its successful debut earlier this year, with more than 500 people turning out to listen to nationally-renowned speakers on the topic of mental health.
Run by the Rotary clubs of Berwick, Casey and Narre Warren, the forum welcomes back guest speaker Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, founding member of the National Centre Against Bullying, and Deakin University School of Medicine Associate Professor Felice Jacka.
Fresh face Dr Claire Kelly, a youth program manager at Mental Health Fire Aid, will also speak at the free mental health forum, scheduled to take place at St Margaret’s School in Berwick, on Tuesday 22 March.
Topics up for discussion will include the impacts of food on mental health, specifically the increasing incidence of depression suffered by young people, positive ways to improve young people’s self-esteem as well as insight into ground breaking mental health first aid research.
The event will be held from 6.30pm until 9.30pm. It will cater to 500 people. To register, visit the Rotary Club of Berwick’s website.
