Road closed for pavement program

AS part of VicRoads’ pavement rehabilitation program, there will be road reconstruction works at Sybella Avenue from Monday 8 February to Friday 4 March, which will involve a temporary part-time road closure.
Weather permitting, the road works will occur between 7.30am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday over a four-week period.
Sybella Avenue will be closed to through traffic during these working hours.
A detour will be in place along the South Gippsland Highway and Rossiter Road, with access maintained only for residents and businesses in Sybella Avenue.
VicRoads Metro South East director of Operations Michael Barker said the part-time closure of Sybella Avenue will allow the works to be completed safely and more efficiently.
“Closing Sybella Avenue between 7.30am and 5pm will allow the road works to be completed within a month, as opposed to six or more weeks. It also allows us to work in a safer environment,” Mr Barker said.
“We have gained feedback from local residents and they are supportive of the part-time closure, given works will be completed in a shorter time frame.
“We appreciate their co-operation, and access will be maintained to their properties with the help of our traffic controllers on site.”
Mr Barker said road workers would be working within close proximity of homes and there would be some noise emitted.
“Every attempt will be made to be as unobtrusive as possible, however some noise will be heard as heavy machinery will be used during the works,” Mr Barker said.
“We are also committed to the health and safety of our road workers and the community, so we ask everyone to remain alert and be mindful of keeping children and animals well away from the works.
“Work dates are subject to weather conditions, and if there are any significant changes we will notify local residents,” Mr Barker said.
