A PERFECT summer night greeted guests to the official opening of a new development at Wilson Botanic Park last week.
The City of Casey has recently completed a $660,000 revitalisation of the area at the southern end of the Berwick park’s large Anniversary Lake.
Dubbed Wilson Botanic Park Lakeside, the area has been designed for maximum community benefit and may be used for organised events as well as personal recreational activities.
On Friday 5 February, Casey hosted the official opening of Wilson Park Lakeside with free entertainment in the park from 6.30pm to 9pm.
Activities included giant chess, checkers and tai chi, and musicians performed for the crowd.
City of Casey Mayor Sam Aziz said the lake was developed with residents in mind.
“This space has been specifically designed to provide a flexible, multi-use, contemporary space that can cater for wedding ceremonies, entertainment, education sessions, fitness classes and picnics by the lake’s edge to complement the many other great areas around the park,” he said.
“With terracing, a formal promenading staircase, elevated stage with balustrade, central lawn area and atmospheric mood lighting, Lakeside is now the perfect space to hold events for memorable occasions or to simply relax with a friend or a book.”
