MORE than 400 people sacrificed their Sunday sleep-in to take part in the Cardinia Fun Run over the weekend.
The event, which has been running for eight years, was held around Toomuc Creek, Toomuc Reserve and Lakeside on Sunday 6 March.
Over $8000 was raised for YMCA Open Doors – an organisation that helps disadvantaged people access health and wellness services. For example, Open Doors might provide swimming lessons for a child whose parents cannot afford them.
The Cardinia Fun Run was one of the Bendigo Bank Summer Series, which also included the Beaconsfield Tower Run and the Berwick Show Run.
The Bendigo Bank donated $2000 to assist in staging the public events and Campbell from the Lakeside Branch officially started the 10km and 5km event.
