GRANDPARENTS shared afternoon tea with their grandchildren during a visit to Casey Childcare and Kindergarten on Wednesday.
The children aged up to six years old led their guests by the hand, giving the visitors a tour of the classrooms.
They paused at various rooms to participate in activities with their grandchildren including drawing, painting, playdough, building train sets, climbing into cubbies and listening to story time.
Assisting the grown-ups with creating their own biscuit mixture, the children helped mix and prepare for the baking of biscuits and fresh scones.
Co-inciding with seniors’ week, VIP elderly guests arrived at 2.30pm to join the afternoon tea.
Centre director Debbie Porter said guests were met at the door with “bright smiles and hugs all around”.
“As educators, it was lovely to see the special bond that exists between children and our senior citizens,” Ms Porter said.
“Grandparents who sat still for long enough were mobbed by children wanting to show them their special art work or construction.
“With the resounding success of this afternoon tea, there will be more lined up for next year.”
