Drunken driver gets six years for fatal crash

THE YOUNG drunken driver who drove a Pakenham Upper man to his death in a horrific high-speed car crash in Beaconsfield last year has been jailed.
Michael Berwick, 23, was killed when his intoxicated friend Joseph Kirpichnikov, 23, lost control of the car which flipped and crashed in the early hours of the morning at Brunt Road, Beaconsfield, on 17 April 2015
Kirpichnikov, from Officer, was jailed for six years in the Victorian County Court on Wednesday 13 April.
The sentence comes almost a year after Michael was taken from his loving family- parents John and Vicki Berwick and sister Alexandra.
Michael was studying mechanical engineering at Swinburne University of Technology when he was killed.
