LIFE is made all the more interesting at the Williams household with alpacas, dogs, cats, cattle, chickens and a duck each playing their own part in the family unit.
Samantha Williams’ five-year-old son Lincoln has grown up with alpacas Lilly and Rocky in his life and is proud to tell people they are his pets.
“Lilly and Rocky, they are very friendly. We’ve had them since they were 12 months old,” Ms Williams said.
“Rocky was shy when we first got him but now he loves a scratch on his neck.
“Lilly has always been outgoing and loves to have anyone’s attention and when you’re not looking, she will give you a cheeky nibble on your clothing or hair.
“Lincoln adores having them out the back of our house.”
The Williams family lives on a 17-acre hobby farming property in Upper Beaconsfield.
In addition to alpacas, there are about 20 dexter cattle, 10 silkie chickens, two Persian cats, Bazil and Babsy, a duck named Daffy and three dogs – Meremma sheepdog Shepherd, kelpie Penny and miniature pom Pip.
“We love having all sorts of animals on our farm because it makes life a little more interesting,” Ms Williams said.
“Penny is five-years-old, Shepherd is four-years-old. We’ve had them both since they were pups.
“Shepherd is a fabulous guard dog and protects us as well as our animals from foxes.
“I couldn’t put a number on all our animals. There are too many to count.”
