Homes ransacked: thieves target jewellery

THOUSANDS worth of precious jewellery were stolen from two houses ransacked in similar fashion.
Both homes, located in Pakenham and Officer, were ransacked between 5pm Friday 15 April and 1am on Saturday 16 April.
The mode of entry was also similar, with victims reporting their locked homes were forcefully broken into.
More than $5000 worth of jewellery including a golden necklace and ring set, earrings and gold chains were taken from a targeted Christopher Road, Officer home during the eight-hour crime window.
The victim told police multiple drawers had been ruffled through during the ransacking which also involved theft of passports.
Across the Princes Highway in Pakenham, a Cuttler Street home was also targeted.
Police said offender/s made their way into the house by jimmying open a bedroom window before taking jewellery, watches and a purse.
Investigators are yet to place a final value on the stolen goods.
