THOUSANDS of hand-crafted poppies made by Berwick students for last year’s Anzac centenary commemoration set a thoughtful backdrop for students as they stood for a minute’s silence to remember those lost in war.
The 3500 poppies made last year were scattered throughout the lawn along with new additions, 101 wooden soldiers, for the Anzac commemoration service held at Berwick Secondary College on Friday 22 April.
The school’s Year 7 students co-ordinated the moving ceremony, attended by local dignitaries including Gembrook MP Brad Battin.
Every student at Berwick Secondary College contributed to the making of the poppies last year.
