Good riddance of bad rubbish

Tens turned out for the clean up effort.

ON Sunday 15 May, Cannibal Creek Landcare Group (CCLCG) in conjunction with Holcim Quarries of Brew Road, Tynong North, and Gumbuya Park carried out a very successful Clean Up Australia project which included the removal of weeds along the road.
Over 30 people made up of Cannival Creek Landcare members and friends, Holcim employees including Operations manager Mick Egan and Gumbuya Park Maintenance manager Dave Tozer were involved in the effort, beginning at 9.30am and finishing at 1pm for a barbecue lunch.
Gerard Cunningham, president of CCLCG, was amazed at the rubbish collected along the road, ranging from bottles and cans to car parts, especially tyres, mattressess and stoves. All that could be recycled, thanks to the group.
Gumbuya Park collected and disposed of a large quantity of rubbish and Cardinia Shire Council will collect the remainder shortly.
Mr Cunningham thanked all crew members for their hard work and Bendigo Bank Bunyip for the loan of their marquee.
