FOR 20 years, Joe and Camilla Greco have run the Bunyip Newsagency – but their time behind the desk is coming to an end as they look toward their retirement … they’re just waiting for the newsagency to sell.
During their time, they have worked in two different stores, endured a refit, made great friends – even handed out the lucky winning ticket to a little old lady who won over $1 million, some years ago.
The pair will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in March next year – and they hope travel may be on the cards.
Joe, 64, and Camilla, 58 – who bought their Bunyip home the same time they took over the newsagency – plan on first travelling around the country, and to take life as it comes from there.
“Our last holiday was 12 years ago. We want to do a little travelling, then look after our grandchildren,” said Joe of his three grandchildren under the age of six.
The long-term newsagents agreed their “biggest moment” was giving away the first division prize pool winnings to an elderly woman.
“It was about five or six years ago. She won over $1 million. She was someone we knew … lived in the Bunyip community. She was well into her eighties when she won it,” Joe said.
The couple put the newsagency up for sale 12 months ago.
