THANKS to donations from local businesses and the community, 36 defibrillators have been installed at various locations around Lang Lang and Kooweerup.
The lifesaving equipment is publicly accessible at sports clubs and general stores, including Kooweerup Recreation Reserve, Lang Lang Memorial Hall, Lang Lang Community Bank, Kooweerup Rotary and Bayles Primary School among many others.
Lang Lang Ambulance First Responders of Ambulance Victoria presented Lang Lang Community Bendigo Bank with a plaque on Friday 3 June in recognition for funding as many as 27 of the currently installed defibrillators.
Ambulance Victoria Pakenham team manager Mick Carroll said the Lang Lang Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) was appreciative of Bendigo Bank’s support.
“CERT has done a fantastic job of providing a high level of emergency care to their local communities for the past 12 years. These volunteers give up their days and nights to do a terrific job,” Mr Carroll said.
“They have jumped on board with the Bendigo Bank and have been instrumental in having dozens of automatic defibrillators installed at various locations around the district.
“It will help assist in strengthening the ‘Chain of Survival’ in cardiac arrest patients: call triple zero, start CPR and access a defibrillator.
“We are in the process of installing another four public-access defibrillators.”
