FEDERAL Member for La Trobe Jason Wood and Minister for Justice Michael Keenan have promised new CCTV cameras for the Beaconsfield Football Club under a re-elected Coalition Government.
Mr Wood and Mr Keenan made the announcement at the Holm Park Reserve on Tuesday 14 June that would see $10,000 for six security cameras for the football club.
The cameras would be located on the interior and exterior of the Beaconsfield Community Sports Club facility.
“I congratulate the Beaconsfield Football Club who put the application for this funding in,” Mr Wood said.
“With my background as a police officer, I know these cameras work as a deterrent and also if something does happen you get video evidence which is great.”
Mr Keenan said community facilities could be vulnerable to vandalism and break-ins and CCTV cameras were a way to stop that from happening.
“Facilities like this around the country can be subject to anti-social behaviour and sorts of things we don’t want to see,” he said.
“These sorts of facilities can come under attack in these sorts of ways and we are doing everything we can to protect them. “
The funding for these CCTV cameras would be made available under the Safer Communities Fund if the Coalition is re-elected.
The Safe Communities Fund is an election promise from the Coalition Government to spend $40 million on various community safety and security projects.
