Monash re-opens: huge delays

THE Monash Freeway has re-opened in both directions after a person was arrested at a Glen Iris footbridge shortly before 9am.
VicRoads advises motorists to allow for extra time as massive queues of traffic clear from the freeway and surrounding roads.
The freeway had been closed inbound at Warrigal Road, and outbound at Toorak Road since shortly before 7am due to a female threatening self-harm on the footbridge.
A woman in her fifties was arrested at the footbridge about 8.45am.
A police spokeswoman said there were no injuries during the incident.
The woman would be taken to hospital, the spokeswoman said.
Aerial footage showed a female on the footbridge with a banner scrawled with the words “VIC-POL” draped over the railing. Police and fire crews were at the scene.
During the incident, inbound traffic had been banking back to Ferntree Gully Road.
