Track fault causes train delays

A TRACK fault caused major delays and service cancellations on the Pakenham metro line this afternoon.
The 12.29pm Flinders Street to Pakenham service was cancelled at Springvale due to a track fault.
A Metro Trains spokesperson said the 12.57pm service from Pakenham to Flinders Street would commence from Springvale as a result. Updates are set to come.
The 1.57pm Pakenham to Flinders Street service has been cancelled, while the 1.17pm Pakenham to Flinders Street service originated from Berwick.
Delays were reduced by 2pm, but train users have been advised to listen out for announcements as outbound services may depart from an altered platform for stations between South Yarra and Caulfield this afternoon.
The track fault also caused minor delays to V/Line services on the Traralgon line, delaying the 12.20pm Traralgon to Southern Cross (SC) by about 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, the 12.20pm SC to Traralgon service has been delayed 40 minutes, with coaches replacing the service between Morwell and Traralgon.
The 3.16pm Traralgon to SC service will also operate as a bus between Traralgon and Morwell and as a train between Morwell and SC.
