A COMMUNITY artwork wall project, launched at St John of God Berwick, will allow primary school students the opportunity to put their creativity on public display.
Children attending St Michael’s Primary School were asked to reflect on the question, ‘How will the new St John of God Berwick Hospital help people who are sick?’
Students aged from foundation through to Grade 6 illustrated their interpretation of the question.
St Michael’s is the first in a series of schools to have their artwork displayed at the site. The artwork will rotate every few months.
St John of God’s Lisa Carman said the hoarding fence was a perfect avenue to involve local schoolchildren.
Many of the children had been born at St John of God Berwick Hospital, which gave the involvement an extra special meaning to those families, she said.
“The artworks were beautiful with bright colours and were well thought through,” Ms Carman said.
“We could see the children had a real understanding of what health care means with images that depicted doctors, nurses and medical equipment but which also went to another level, showing hope, positivity and spirituality.“
The children were very excited to see their artwork on display at Kangan Drive and were greeted by a group of parents and siblings.
The next school approached to display their artwork is Berwick Primary School.
