THE dog squad was reportedly called in to take down a Berwick man who allegedly took police on a ride through the outer south-east in a stolen car.
Police allege they saw the man, a 37-year-old Berwick man, make his way into a vehicle parked in Moody Street, Kooweerup, about 9.30pm on Tuesday 19 July.
The man was followed by police through Kooweerup, Cranbourne and Clyde before he was located and arrested at Langraq Court in Berwick in the allegedly stolen vehicle.
Reports suggest that police had to use the dog squad to take down the man, however a Victoria Police spokesperson did not reveal that detail.
The man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and theft.
He was remanded overnight to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 20 July.
