Fire destroys unoccupied home

A COCKATOO property was been severely damaged after a mysterious house fire.
Seven CFA vehicles, including four first-response trucks, were called to the scene at 3.50pm on Thursday 18 August to find the Seaview Road home “completely engulfed” in flames, according to a spokesperson.
Firefighters took 20 minutes to control the fire which left the house “extensively damaged and quite possibly destroyed”.
The house was found to be unoccupied at the time of the incident.
The CFA spokesperson told the Gazette that the property’s gas provider was notified of the incident and attended the scene at 5pm.
Fire investigators were yet to determine the cause of the fire but were not treating the circumstances as suspicious.
