Road closed for works

Motorists are advised to take the pictured detour.

CARDINIA Road in Officer will be closed from 6am Sunday 11 September until 4am Monday 12 September, between Shearwater Drive and Bridge Road.
During this time, VicRoads will be removing existing railway boom gates at the level crossing, and replacing them over the new section of road.
VicRoads South Eastern Projects Director Charlie Broadhurst said detour routes will be in place and traffic management will be on site to assist.
“There will be signed detour routes during this closure and we ask local road users to allow for extra travelling time,” Mr Broadhurst said.
“Once the road reopens, cars travelling south on Cardinia Road will be switched onto the new carriageway and traffic will continue to travel in one lane each way while the upgrade continues.”
Mr Broadhurst said the project to upgrade Cardinia Road between Shearwater Drive and the Pakenham Bypass is on schedule to be completed by the end of the year.
“Works will continue on the kerb, new median strip, lighting, footpath and the widening of the road.
“During this time the speed limit will continue to be reduced for the safety of our workers.”
