String of burglaries

AN INTRUDER has scaled the walls of a two-storey cafe in Pakenham, jumping over a balcony and forcing entry to the building.
The break-in at Lakeside Mill is one of several burglaries believed to have been carried out by the same offenders, said Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) Detective Sergeant Phil Jury.
At 4.50am on Sunday 11 September, the climbing crim has scaled up to Lakeside Mill’s top floor where s/he has jimmied open the door leading to an office.
Cash was stolen.
Det Sgt Jury is working off the theory the burglary is linked to two others around the same time.
At 4.45am, offenders forced entry to Battery Zone on the Princes Highway in Pakenham.
Cash was also stolen.
Earlier at 3.50am, the Central Hotel in Beaconsfield was also targeted by burglars.
Det Sgt Jury said offenders jimmied open the office side door, rummaging through various drawers and cupboards.
At this stage, nothing has been reported as stolen.
