THE Rotary Club of Berwick’s Tim Moore has become the first Rotarian from the local district to be appointed to the prestigious position of Rotary Co-ordinator.
The role involves strengthening Rotary districts Australia-wide and overseeing 13 districts and more than 50 clubs for three years from 2017.
The Berwick Rotary past president and past district governor will be invited to speak at district governors’ conferences and offer training expertise to their clubs.
He has trained upcoming district governors over the past three years and holds a position on the Rotary Down Under Magazine board.
Mr Moore is currently proud to be involved with a two-year long project that will soon see Rotary fund a small team to travel to the Philippines.
The team will train residents in how to install and maintain water purifiers provided by Disaster Aid Australia.
The Rotarian was honoured to be recognised for his Rotary achievements with this highly respected appointment.
“The role will, hopefully, take me and my wife Jane around Australia visiting Rotary clubs,” Mr Moore said.
“I am very lucky to have the opportunity and I’m really looking forward to it.
“The appointment is by invitation only, so it’s very nice to be thought to possess the abilities to carry out this role for Rotary International.”
Mr Moore will travel to the United States in March to complete his training at the Rotary world headquarters in Evanston, Illinois.
This will involve setting objectives and establishing the resources required to achieve them.
Mr Moore’s role would see him travel to districts on request to assist clubs with issues such as increasing and retaining membership, publicity and guidance through projects to achieve the key goals set out by Rotary International.
Rotary has an Australian membership of 34,000 in about 1100 clubs.
Mr Moore will serve as one of 40 Rotary Co-ordinators worldwide.
