Fire brigades stick together

Deb Bramley will be sadly missed by the Nar Nar Goon community.

NAR Nar Goon Fire Brigade members thanked their Dandenong Fire Station colleagues for support in their time of need.
South East Region Brigade Administrative Support Officer (BASO) Lisa Hicks said the Nar Nar Goon crew attended the funeral of Captain Geoff Bramley’s wife Debra on Monday 19 September.
“Although it was a sad day for everyone, the volunteers were still mindful of keeping the community safe,” she said.
So the evening before the funeral, Capt Bramley called operations officer Paul Carrigg at Dandenong Fire Station to ask whether staff would be available to step up to Nar Nar Goon for the day.
“It didn’t take long to organise a crew willing to accommodate the request,” Ms Hicks said.
“Monday was a testament to the real meaning of CFA.
“It proved that we can all still count on each other to the end.
“In light of what has transpired over the past six months with paid staff and volunteer firefighters over the EBA, it was evident that CFA members – both volunteer and paid staff – were still from the same family.
“Regardless of what their beliefs are and what side they bat for, we are all here for the same reason.”
