VANDALS stomped the bonnet of a car, kicked in its windshield and damaged two other vehicles during a crime spree in broad daylight at a Pakenham primary school carpark.
One of the cars damaged belonged to Nar Nar Goon Primary School’s parent helper Karen Damen, who will now be forced to fork out money to fix her damaged car.
Ms Damen said she viewed CCTV surveillance capturing the youth-led rampage out the front of Pakenham Hills Road Primary, and urged parents of unruly kids to do their best to rein them in.
“Most people would be mortified to think that their kids would act like this,” she said.
A Nar Nar Goon Primary School teacher, Ms Damen and about eight students were visiting the school for a chess tournament.
They parked their cars at the Army Road car park about 9.30am on Tuesday 18 October, and were notified of the damage to their vehicles an hour later.
One of the cars had its windscreen kicked in, bonnet smashed and side mirrors knocked off. Another two also had their side mirrors removed.
The youths were of secondary school age, according to Ms Damen.
Ms Damen, who raises two young children on her own, said the family income would take a hit with the repair bill.
“I’m a single parent, and now I have to find $600 to pay for the excess,” she said.
