A PAKENHAM woman has been rescued after breaking her ankle as she took a shortcut across a creek bed while walking her grandchildren home from school.
The 51-year-old woman’s grandchildren suggested they all take a shortcut across Kennedy Creek between Algerd Way and Tipperary Circuit after school on Thursday 3 November.
However she slipped and her foot became lodged in the rocks.
Ambulance and CFA were called to the scene at 3.42pm.
Pakenham CFA Third Lieutenant Adam Blackley said while the woman was hurt, she was also saw the funny side of her predicament.
“She’s in really good spirits about the whole thing and having a laugh despite being in a bit of pain,” he said.
Mr Blackley said the incident showed that people need to be careful when they are out walking.
“This is a good reminder for people to stick to the designated walkways no matter how tempting a shortcut looks.”
