IT took three fashion heats to determine the winner in the highly-popular Lady of the Day fashion parade on Oaks Day at the Pakenham racecourse on Thursday 3 November.
The coveted title went to Beaconsfield beauty Kiara Manning, 18. It was nail-biting ordeal getting to race day … her admired tailored skirt had only been finished the night before the race.
She beamed as she accepted her first place sash, adorned by fellow fashionistas Chloe Davies and Breanne Beatson who won second and third place, respectively.
Michael McAlpine placed in the final three at last year’s Oaks Day fashion parade, and this year he took out the win for Best Dressed Gentlemen.
The competition was fierce – with three-month-old Hamish putting up a fashion battle with his suit and tie.
He and his dad Gerard Wursthorn placed third in the final, and Tim Schembri came in second.
Another bright-eyed youngster also managed to take out one of the titles on the fashions stage.
Harvey Beatson and his nan Narelle Fanning placed second as the Best Dressed Couple.
He was very proud to tell the crowd he was dressed by Bardot – and stole hearts as he beamed his toothy smile out to the crowd.
Chris Johnson and Nina McMahon came first, while Roslyn Delrayne and Dean Boyle came third.
The Mature Lady of the Day win was taken out by Leanora Romensky, while Jillian Chandler came second and Joanne Abrehart came third.
