THE Rotary Club of Berwick was invited to visit St John of God Berwick’s new Kangan Drive hospital site earlier this month.
St John of God acting chief Mark Terry provided a comprehensive overview of the new 210-bed general hospital currently under construction next to the Cancer and Cardiac Care Centre on Wednesday 2 November.
Due for completion in September next year, the hospital will also have six operating theatres and additional birthing suites and two cardiovascular units. He added the Gibb St Hospital would be redeveloped as a rehabilitation centre.
St John of God major gifts committee chairman Neil Lucas said it was important to build a specialist facility closer to home and that 100 per cent of all donations received would be spent on the “best equipment available”.
The Rotary Club of Berwick has close ties to the hospital and has donated funds for equipment for the Gibb Street hospital and, in more recent times, to the cancer centre.
Anyone interested in donating to the campaign can phone (08) 9382 4292 or email mark.terry@sjog.org.au
