DETECTIVES are investigating subsequent use of a credit card allegedly stolen from a Pakenham home earlier this month.
Investigators have been told a man attempted to use the card to buy cigarettes at a petrol station on the Princes Highway, Drouin, at about 6.30am on Saturday 7 January.
The card had been pinched from a Pakenham property in Snow Gum Court two days earlier.
The man had been driving an allegedly stolen blue Mazda sedan which went missing from Victoria Place, Pakenham, on the same day as the credit card theft.
Police have since recovered the vehicle.
Detectives have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
He has been perceived to be Aboriginal in appearance, aged in his twenties, with a medium build and dark hair.
The man was wearing a dark hoodie, black Hurley T-shirt and dark pants, at the Drouin service station.
