The stars and moons aligned for the Casey Cardinia Foundation at Racing.com Park last Thursday night, 9 February.
Aligned Leisure, the recreation arm of Richmond Football Club, handed over a cheque for $27,000, the proceeds of its charity race night.
Foundation executive officer Therese Howell assured Aligned Leisure CEO Cain Liddle and his staff, who put the night together, that the money would be well spent in the community.
Ms Howell said last year the foundation had received 42 requests for assistance from community groups and organisations across the Casey Cardinia region, and it was only able to fund nine of those.
“This area is growing, which means the needs and the problems we face are also growing,” she said.
“This money will allow us to fund five to 10 more grants.”
The foundation has sunk $414,000 into the community in the past 13 years.
“We are proud to be associated with Aligned Leisure, and we are very grateful for their support, generosity and kindness,” Ms Howell said. “They understand community and how they can make a difference.”
