There is a blank brick wall in the Shelley House garden at Hillview Aged Care in Bunyip which is an ideal place for a mural to create a sense of safety with a holistic approach through the use of a rural-farmland scene and promote stimulation of thought and senses.
Bunyip Community House resident artist Karen Danielson will act as the overseeing consultant and plan the mural.
Helpers are needed to assist both in the preparation and to help in painting large passages of solid colours – “the block in”.
Karen will plot all the images relevant to size and perspective.
Volunteers will paint individual aspects of the scene once Karen has outlined the drawing, such as chickens and cows.
Individual arty types at working bees will undertake smaller specific elements such as a windmill, barn or a shed.
The undertaking of the mural will enhance a more pleasurable atmosphere in the Shelley Memory Support outdoor area and give the residents a lovely peaceful place to sit in and relax.
The cost of a mural of this size if outsourced would be of significant, so the more hands on the better. Bunnings East Pakenham is kindly donating paint for the community project.
Anyone who can assist is asked to call Debra, Leisure and Lifestyle Co-ordinator at Hillview, on 5629 6886 to register their name.
Morning and afternoon tea will be provided.
Working bees will be held on Thursday 23 and 30 March between 1pm and 3pm.
