Nabbed with handgun, break-in tools

Pakenham police chased and caught a man carrying a handgun and made two arrests in Officer in the early hours of Monday 6 March.
Police pulled over a silver station wagon on an unmade section of Mary Street, which is part of a new housing development, just before 2am.
Three men in the car were asked to step out, and as they did one of the passengers carrying a backpack attempted to walk away from the car.
The police officer chased the man down, and on inspection of the bag he was carrying found a .22 calibre handgun, a large amount of cash, and tools allegedly used to break into properties.
Police were then prompted to search the car where they found more alleged break-in tools and cash.
A man from Glen Iris was interviewed by police and is expected to be charged with possessing proceeds of crime and possessing house-breaking implements.
A Deer Park man remains in custody and is assisting police with their inquiries while the third man was released without charge.
