Six goats that disappeared from a McGregor Road property in Pakenham South have been returned to their owners after police executed a search warrant and made an arrest on Wednesday 29 March.
Detective Senior Constable Trudy Neylan said a search warrant was executed at an address in Pakenham South, resulting in the arrest of a 37-year-old man who was charged in relation to the goats’ theft and other matters.
Det Sen Con Neylan said the investigation is still continuing.
“We are encouraging anyone who has further information to make contact with police or call Crime Stoppers,” she said.
The goats, named Ana, Elsa, Milly, Sunday, Robbie and Gypsy, disappeared in two separate overnight incidents between 18-20 March.
At 3pm on Wednesday 29 March owners Jessica and Michael Woolf received a much awaited call from Pakehnam police asking them to identify six goats.
With all their goats back home safe and sound, members of the Woolf are relived that their 11-day ordeal is over.
Mr Woolf said he was surprised at the return.
“When something goes missing you don’t expect to see it again, especially when it is an animal,“ he said.
Ms Woolf said she was grateful to have the goats back.
“We are so happy that they are now home,” Ms Woolf said.
She said their Toggenberg male goat is also glad he “has his girlfriends back”.
The Woolf family said they appreciated the help from the public who provided information to police while the goats were still missing.
“We are so thankful for their kindness,” Ms Woolf said.
She added: “We are grateful to the Pakenham police for all their help.”
