Memories are made of dunking your teacher

They say school prepares you for life, which rings true in this 1973 Gazette photo from the Pakenham Secondary College school fair. Phil Anning, current president of the Pakenham Cricket Club, hones his skills on the dunking machine. “I reckon it was (teacher) Rob Hansen on the machine… and I got him,” Phil recalled this week. Those looking on include Liz Petzke, Keith Popovits, Jeff Hamill, Gordon Kitchin and Peter Bennett.

Pakenham Secondary College is preparing to toast its 50th birthday and is inviting all past teachers and students to join in the celebrations.
The school was established in 1967 and moved to its current site in 1971.
The celebration will take the form of a free event from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday 30 May, with tours of the school available for an hour prior to that, starting at 5pm.
Year 12 students will man displays, including a Wall of Wisdom, where those from past years can leave messages for the current PSC cohort.
There will be a photo booth for people to have photos as they renew schoolyard acquaintances and monitors around the room will constantly play video footage from the past.
Refreshments will be provided and numbers are limited, so anyone intending to be a part of the celebration is encouraged to register through eventbrite.com.au and search for the Pakenham Secondary College link.
The Gazette will produce a special PSC 50th anniversary feature next week. To advertise or to share a story, contact the Gazette team on 5945 0666 or email dailyeditor@starnewsgroup.com.au or advertising@starnewsgroup.com.au.
