The ultimate trolley trek is set to benefit some very special kids.
Coles Services team members from across the state, including Pakenham embarked on 12-day trolley push across Victoria on 16 June, to raise money for children’s charity, Very Special Kids.
Rattling the charity’s iconic pink piggy bank tins outside Coles stores along the way, participating staff members are hoping to collect $30,000 in donations to assist the state’s only children’s hospice which provides respite and end-of-life care.
Coles Services was established in 2014 to manage the collection of trolleys and cleaning services across Australia.
Coles Services Area Manager Michael Thompson said he was thrilled to see so many passionate staff members rally behind the cause – the first Coles Services had supported.
“It’s a really good cause. Coles Services is new to Coles and Very Special Kids instantly came to mind as being our charity of choice that we’d like to support,” Mr Thompson said.
Very Special Kids CEO Michael Wasley said the hospice was predominantly self-funded, so every dollar counted.
“All funds raised during the trolley push will go directly towards children with respite and care in the hospice,” he said.
“We’re especially thankful to Coles Services for spearheading such a unique fund-raiser like the trolley push and bringing it to the Pakenham residents.”
Community members can support the initiative by gold coin donation or by purchasing Very Special Kids merchandise.
They can also donate at any Coles register.
Coles’s managing director has also pledged to match every dollar raised.
