Residents were left shivering over the weekend as the region was hit by its coldest weather in 110 years.
The temperature dropped to -1.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, with reports of frozen dogs’ baths, windscreens, solar heating and spiders’ webs.
Kylie Balog from Koo Wee Rup was one of the many people who were left with frozen pipes and no hot water..
“I went to have a shower in the morning, but when I turned on the taps there was no pressure.
“I had my two kids (aged one and two) right behind me yelling at me to hurry up and turn on the water.
“We waited about half an hour, and ended up having to go to my brother’s house to get ready.
“When I called my real estate agent they told me they already had heaps of people calling about the same problem.”
Property managers at Stockdale and Leggo Pakenham said they were inundated with calls over the weekend, with claims ranging from broken valves and gushing water as a result of the cold snap.
“The last time Melbourne dropped below zero degrees was back in 1984,” Weatherzone meteorologist Ben Domensino told 9 News.
Pakenham’s Sarah Muratore from Scenes by Sars captured the frosty landscape around Pakenham and Gembrook over the weekend.
