A piece of tradition will return to this year’s St Thomas Church Bunyip Flower Show.
The 115th show, held at the historic St Thomas Church on 28 October, will bring back ‘flowers of praise and remembrance’ after a long hiatus.
The tradition sees organisations and community groups place an arrangement or posy on display in the church in dedication for those past and present.
“It’s been well supported in the past and we’re bringing it back,” volunteer Margaret Collier said.
The event, which acts as a fund-raiser for the church, will also include vibrant floral displays, Devonshire teas, cakes, a sausage sizzle, craft and plant stalls, raffles and children’s activities.
This year’s competition has 52 categories ranging from roses to floral art to portrait photography.
Ms Collier said the competition attracted a lot of high-calibre entries.
“It’s normally a very good day. People from the broader community come along, too,” she said.
The cash only event will be held on Saturday 28 October from 9.30am to 3pm at the church at 16 A’Beckett Road, Bunyip.
Entry is $5 and children are free.
