The Gazette’s sports desk is happy to announce Hayley Wildes as the newest addition to the team as a sports journalist.
Hayley has long been involved with sport in the local area, including playing football and tennis. Her football journey began at Lang Lang Football Club in 2007, playing in the Under-13s, and continued to Cranbourne where she played eight seasons with the Eagles in Youth Girls and Women’s competitions.
In 2016, Hayley was drafted by the Western Bulldogs in the AFLW competition and is currently playing in her second season with the team.
Hayley has recently completed her studies at Deakin University in Burwood, graduating with a Degree in Sport Management, whilst majoring in Journalism.
Having covered basketball and football at a local and national level, Hayley is thrilled to be joining Star News Group and is excited by the opportunity to cover all levels of sport in the region.
Hayley is a basketball aficionado and die-hard Boston Celtics fan who believes one can simply not have too much basketball in their life.
With a strong knowledge of the sporting landscape in the area, Hayley is looking forward to highlighting the stories and personalities that make community sport what it is.
