Rail blitz to hit hard

By Wendy Williamson

Rail travellers will have to exercise patience as major work takes place on the Cranbourne/Pakenham line between 30 March and 15 April.
The 17 days of work will include the removal of two level crossings in Clayton and the opening of a new 1.4 kilometre section of elevated rail.
As a result, buses will replace trains between Oakleigh and Dandenong from 12.30am on Friday 30 March until the last service on Monday 2 April. This may increase journeys by up to 55 minutes.
Then from Tuesday 3 April to Sunday 15 April buses will replace trains between Caulfield and Westall.
There will also be ongoing traffic management and lane closures for upgrades on the Monash and West Gate Freeways.
