Get lost in the incredible life story and hits of world-renowned tenor Mario Lanza in the upcoming stage performance Lanza Sings Again.

Showing at Bunjil Place on Friday 25 May, the production will see renditions of Lanza’s hit songs by star tenor Roy Best accompanied by international soprano Alison Jones and narrator Chris McKenna.

Roy Best had an incredible rise in the Australian showbiz scene: from being a finalist in ABC TV’s Operatunity Oz, recording with ABC Classics and playing principal roles with the Victorian Opera.

Best is also a current guest artist with the Australian Pops Orchestra.

Alongside Best is Alison Jones performing as Kathryn Grayson; Mario Lanza’s preferred soprano co-star in a number of films.

Jones’ career has taken her across Europe and the United Kingdom, taking on leading roles with The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company in the savoy theatre in London, an honour rarely bestowed on an Australian Soprano.

Since settling back in Australia she has played leading roles for the Victorian Opera and Melbourne Opera.

Narrations by Chris McKenna will detail the life of Mario Lanza, who had such an enormous career and incredibly died at the age of 38

“The production follows the fascinating life story of Lanza and his leading ladies,” narrator Chris McKenna said.

“The story of his death is quite extraordinary; Lanza was undergoing sleep therapy to lose weight and died during complications with the procedure.

“Lanza was one of the first of the great tenors of the world. He was a handsome Italian tenor and recorded over 500 songs and sold over five million copies of his hit song Be My Love.

“It’s the perfect show for anybody who loves great singing.”

This brand new production will be packed with great highlights of the man once dubbed the greatest tenor in the world.

The show starts at 11am at Bunjil Place on Friday 25 May.
